Excellence in Catholic Education for Over a Century
1906
The Sisters of Perpetual Adoration opened an Academy for boys and girls. It was a small rural school with 2 classes. Saint James quickly gained a reputation for excellence.
Summer of 1923
Because of several factors, the Sisters of Perpetual Adoration closed the school and convent and returned to their Motherhouse.
July 1923
The Sisters, Servants of the Immaculate Heart of Mary came to live in the convent and the school reopened in September, 1923. The Sisters started the CCD program of religious studies for the students of Saint James and of outlying areas.
1949
The Kindergarten was established as a permanent part of the school.
1950s
By this time, the enrollment in the school rocketed, and the middle school wing was added to serve the growing student body.
1960s
The primary wing was added because the school just kept growing
1982
After the passing of beloved pastor, Monsignor Heller, the auditorium was renamed after him – Monsignor Heller Hall. It is used constantly for faith formation, community events, and school activities
1999
A gymnasium was built named after Joseph Knecht (Knecht Gym). The old gym was transformed into a new library (Rosemary Burns Library), a new music room, and a new art room.

Saint James Catholic School celebrates its 100th anniversary
2019
Saint James Preschool opens with 3 classes: 3 year olds, 4 year olds, and Junior Kindergarten.
September 2023
Saint James celebrates the 100th anniversary of the IHM sisters’ presence. There is still a strong IHM presence including the principal, the DRE, the 4th grade teacher, and 2 sisters who serve as support staff.
Spring 2024
A beautiful outdoor classroom is added to our campus. Students learn while being surrounded by God’s creation.
