Annual Appeal
Established in 2012, the Saint James School Annual Appeal keeps our 100+ year old school competitive, accessible, and affordable to all who desire a Catholic education. The SJS Fund makes up the “financial gap” between the school’s annual tuition and what it costs to educate each student. We are proud of the enrichment programs that our parish school provides in advanced math, music, art, technology, and robotics. These programs keep our school competitive with other private schools but require yearly financial support. As Bishop Burbidge stated in the Diocesan strategic plan “We need to invigorate Catholic education for all” by making it “affordable and accessible” through the development of “sustainable funding models.” The SJS Fund is an example of a sustainable funding model for parochial schools. You can make a one-time or monthly donation.
Guardian Angel Scholarship Fund
The cost of a Catholic education is often prohibitive for many parish families. The Guardian Angel Scholarship Fund was established to focus exclusively on providing tuition assistance to our K-8 students who desired a Catholic education but who could not afford one without financial support. Our often anonymous donors are known as “Guardian Angels” whose prayers and generosity gave them the great gift of a Catholic education. To become a Guardian Angel and make the gift of Catholic education a reality to a child in need, donate here:
Clark Delaney Teacher Retention Fund
The Clarke-Delaney Teacher Retention Fund was established in 2009 to honor two of our longest serving teaching professionals (namely, Mary L. Clarke and Mary Delaney) and to provide educational training and support to our current teachers. This Fund also helps us to recruit, hire and retain the best educators in the area. We are proud of the talented and dedicated teachers employed at Saint James Catholic School. Please consider making a one-time or monthly donation to this Fund.
Endowed Scholarships
The advantage of an Endowed Scholarship is that it is permanent. The donor funds it with a predetermined amount — $25,000, $30,000, $50,000. Once established, the original principal can never be touched. Over time, the accrued interest provides the school with money that can be used on an annual basis for student scholarships. Again, it’s another example of a sustainable funding model for Catholic education.
The Arlene C. Tate Memorial Scholarship
Mr. Thomas N. Tate created this scholarship in memory of his beloved wife Arlene C. Tate, who died in March of 2013 after a difficult and heroic battle with esophageal cancer. It is Mr. Tate’s desire that this scholarship be used to provide financial assistance to a student in need. We are grateful to Mr. Tate for his generosity to Saint James Catholic School and are proud to honor the memory of such a beautiful and accomplished woman.
The Msgr John J. McMahon Memorial Scholarship
Rev. Monsignor John J. McMahon served as assistant pastor of St. James Parish cheerfully served the people from 1955 to 1961. This Scholarship honors the memory of this generous priest and his belief in the importance of Catholic education. It is our hope that the recipients of this need-based scholarship will have a deep commitment to the truths of the Catholic faith as well as a strong desire to give back to others the gift of a Catholic education in the future. We are grateful to the family of Monsignor McMahon for making this generous scholarship possible.
The Christopher H. Louloudakis “Most Vibrant Pupil” (MVP) Scholarship
Christopher was a third grade student at Saint James Catholic School who suddenly died on November 24, 2022. Christopher was a well-rounded student who let his light shine brightly wherever he went. He made others laugh, helped those in need, and asked questions — lots of questions. Christopher was a vibrant young man who brought joy to everyone he met. He was truly an MVP!
Christopher’s mother founded this scholarship to recognize students who live like Christopher did and to continue his legacy of joy. Each year, three students (3rd, 4th, and 5th graders) receive a $500 scholarship that goes towards their tuition.
